The Academy, bearing her name, now opens its gates to nurture children at their earliest stages—teaching them not only numbers and letters, but kindness, reverence, and spiritual grounding. In January 2026, it will welcome its first Baby Class, preparing even the littlest ones to enter the nurturing arms of kindergarten with joy and readiness.
Within the Diocese of Dallas, Deacon Vela continues her ministry with grace: mentoring, teaching, and lifting others toward their divine calling. Her work reaches across ages, continents, and cultures—always guided by humility, anchored in prayer, and fueled by love.

Deacon Debra Vela serves as the dedicated CEO of Children’s Food Ministry, an outreach that feeds not only bodies but souls—bringing nourishment, joy, and gospel-centered care to children across Kenya and beyond.
She is also the founder of Deacon Debra Christian Academy, a kindergarten school launched in 2025 to shape young hearts and minds with faith, wisdom, and early learning excellence. The Academy stands as a living legacy of her vision for holistic child development rooted in Christ. In January 2026, it will introduce a Baby Class to provide foundational support for younger children before kindergarten—extending her nurturing reach even further.
As a servant leader in the Diocese of Dallas, Deacon Vela has mentored generations through prayer, teaching, and outreach—her quiet strength empowering others to rise with purpose.
